CORE Susquehanna is now recruiting for half-time AmeriCorps positions. The half-time positions begin February 12th, 2020 and end on August 8th, 2020. 

Benefits for half-time positions include:

·       A living stipend of $7,413.00

·       An Educational Award of $3,047.50 from AmeriCorps National upon completion of the term

·       Health insurance

·       Childcare assistance (if qualified)

·       Forbearance on qualified active student loans after completion of the term (includes interest)

MakerSpace Project Coordinator

Selinsgrove Regional Engagement Center

The AmeriCorps Member will provide support and do outreach for the MakerSpace Project. The member will also recruit volunteers to assist in Module facilitation and facilitate pathways for community use.

Union County Housing Authority

The AmeriCorps member will provide support to various programs in the Housing Authority.  The member will receive training in our Section 8 Housing and Urban Development and Homeowner Rehabilitation Program to assist individuals that are looking to participate in these programs and those that are already enrolled.  Likewise, the member will provide program activities to residents, including families, elderly and disabled, in the 6 housing projects managed by the Housing Authority..

AmeriCorps Member

Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority

The AmeriCorps member will support Our Natures Cool Programming with Kindertime, Play Dates, and Special Programming for children from 1-5 within that space. The member will also support Outdoor Recreation Programming that includes day trips in hiking, paddling, skiing, biking etc. 

He/She will support Learning to Lead After School Program which is a program to promote leadership development. The member will develop and implement our summer camps for the summer of 2020.  

He/She will coordinate Special Events as needed such as National Night Out, Races on the Rail Trail, Sleep in’s, and other events as needed.

Classroom Assistant- AmeriCorps Member

Union-Snyder Community Action Agency

The Classroom Assistant will provide support to Education & Employment staff to ensure successful delivery of self-sufficiency services for adults living with low income and/or re-entering society post-incarceration. Classroom priorities include but are not limited to computer assistance, job search, resume building, financial literacy, life skills, parenting, and service navigation. The member will assist with providing meals and transportation for customers.

Lewisburg YMCA at The Miller Center

The AmeriCorps Member will work closely with Youth Program Coordinator and Sports and Recreation Director to facilitate programming for Homeschoolers, Preschoolers and School-Age Children, including after-school program, gym classes, and more. He/She willDevelop and facilitate new programming for the gym area and multi-purpose rooms. Possibilities include leagues, tournaments, “open sport” times and more. The Member will also serve as a resource for the center and interact with members and patrons on a regular basis and create communications materials about the center’s activities and events.

The AmeriCorps Member will serve in conjunction with Selinsgrove Borough facilities for development of “Little Norway” to year round recreation functioning for youth and community members.  The member will also participate in volunteer recruitment of youth and community members for help with healthy recreation activities.
