CORE Susquehanna is now recruiting for Summer AmeriCorps positions. The Summer positions begin May 19th, 2020 and end on August 8th, 2020. 

Benefits for summer positions include:

·       A living stipend of $3,700.00

·       An Educational Award of $1,612.43 from AmeriCorps National upon completion of the term

·       Health insurance

·       Childcare assistance (if qualified)

Events Coordinator AmeriCorps Member

Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority

This position will help with our Outdoor Adventure Summer Camp, Outdoor Skills Camp,and other full day summer camps, half day themed camps & clubs, mini kids programs (ages 3-5).

The positions will have a larger role supporting ages 9-14 years of age group in our outdoor adventure camps.  This includes day hikes, paddling, leave no trace, team building activities, outdoor skills like knots, shelters, fire building, map and compass, etc.

Pool Education AmeriCorps Member

Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority

This position would work with the Lewisburg Community Pool to offer swim lessons at free and reduced prices.  The person in this position would need to be a certified lifeguard and a certified swim instructor.  BVRA will pay for both certifications. This position will also support our large summer camp programming initiatives.  We have full day summer camps, half day themed camps & clubs, mini kids programs (ages 3-5), and an Outdoor Recreation Adventure Summer Camp that utilizes the catalyst of the outdoors to support a summer camp.  Ages could include 3 to age 15.

Program Assistant- AmeriCorps Member

Lewisburg YMCA at The Miller Center

The AmeriCorps member will serve closely with Youth Program Coordinator and Sports and Recreation Director to facilitate programming for children of all ages, including summer camp, gym classes, after-school activities, and more. He/She will also serve as a summer camp counselor daily by interacting with and ensuring the safety of children ages 5-12 and develop and facilitate new programming for the gym area and multi-purpose rooms. Possibilities include leagues, tournaments, “open sport” times and more.

Program Assistant- AmeriCorps Member

The AmeriCorps member will participate and help plan all summer activities (Rainbow Summer and Fun In The Sun) for children and youth. He/She will work closely with program director, volunteers and teen counselors. The AmeriCorps member will also spend quality time with the children and youth during activities; will assist in physical activity portion of the daily routine with clients that includes gym exercises/games and also walking field trips, playground activities, etc.
