CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps was established in 1994 as a project of the Union-Snyder Community Action Agency, located in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. AmeriCorps, also referred to as the ‘Domestic Peace Corps’, has its roots in the long tradition of service opportunities that includes the Civilian Conservation Corps, the GI Bill, the Peace Corps, VISTA, and the Points of Light Foundation.
CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps is a state program directly supervised by the state commission, PennSERVE. The Corporation for National Service, the umbrella agency for all such state programs, supports a range of service opportunities. These programs are funded by Congress and other support from local and private sector partners.
